Suspect arrested for shooting 10-year-old Malayali girl in London

London ∙ A suspect has been arrested in the incident of shooting a 10-year-old girl from a Malayali family who came to eat at a Hackney restaurant in Britain. Javon Reilly (32) from Farnborough, Hampshire was arrested by the police. The accused has been charged at Westminster Magistrates' Court with four counts of attempted murder.

The remanded suspect will appear at the Old Bailey on September 6. The police stopped the vehicle and arrested him. A 35-year-old woman, who was arrested earlier for helping the criminal, was released on police bail. The girl and her family had come from Birmingham, UK to visit London on school holidays.

The shooting happened at 9.20pm on May 29 in Hackney, London. Lissel Maria, daughter of Anathazhath Vinaya and Ajeesh, a native of Paravur Gothurut, was seriously injured in the firing. The assailant, who came on a bike, fired at the building and the restaurant. Police informed that the girl remains in the hospital. It is indicated that the girl has not fully recovered her ability to speak and move. Three more people who were standing outside the restaurant were also shot in the firing, but they were released from the hospital after a few days.
