Delhi: Reportedly, India has become the second largest 5G mobile phone market in the world, surpassing the US. China tops the list. According to Counterpoint Research, global 5G handset shipments will grow by 20 percent in the first half of 2024. Apple has shipped the most 5G phones. Apple has a 25 percent market share in the world's total 5G phone shipments.
According to the report, 5G handset shipments are growing steadily. In the first half of the year, India overtook the US to become the second largest 5G handset market. Senior analyst Prachir Singh said that budget segment brands such as Xiaomi, Vivo and Samsung are popular in India. Samsung, which includes the Galaxy A series and S24 series, grabbed over 21 percent share and took second place. In the first half of 2024, Apple and Samsung took five spots in the top 10 list of 5G models. Apple took the top four spots.
The Asia-Pacific region accounts for 63 percent of total global net adds. And 58 percent 5G export share in Asia itself. In the Europe, Middle East and Africa region too, there was a huge growth in 5G handset shipments.
