Alberta is known for its rare game. Some games even cross the line. One such game is the wife carrying competition organized for couples. The race is to run with your wife on your shoulders. Winners of the contest are rewarded with beer and cash. The competition is organized by the Lac La Biche Agricultural Society in conjunction with the Lakeland County Fair in Northern Alberta. Prizes will be awarded to the three fastest teams. Winners are rewarded with beer equal to their wife's weight and five times their weight in cash. Runner-up teams will receive half or a third of that amount. Team members do not have to be legally married, but must be at least 20 years old.
