The application fee for the Nexus Pass required by Canadian citizens traveling to the United States will more than double starting next month. The NEXUS program is a program that helps Canadian citizens cross the US-Canada border more quickly and easily. The application fee is currently 68 Canadian dollars. But the rate will more than double to C$163.16 within two weeks, according to the Canada Border Services Agency. CBSA said the new rates will be applicable to new applications, renewals and replacements from October 1.
Demand for the Nexus program has skyrocketed. The current fee structure has been in place for over 20 years. The agency says it can no longer cover the cost of the program. CBSA said that as of April, Nexus had more than 1.8 million members, most of whom were Canadian citizens.
