Toronto, ON – International Youth Canada (IYC) is thrilled to announce the launch of a new platform designed to connect job seekers with employers, highlighting its commitment to addressing the critical challenges faced by international students, recent graduates, and newcomers. This initiative follows the successful MahaOnam celebration and underscores IYC's dedication to meaningful community engagement beyond just festivities.

Recently, IYC hosted a Student Summit and Career Clinic at the Chinese Cultural Centre in Scarborough, in collaboration with Seneca Polytechnic and LEMFI. The event attracted a diverse group of students from various universities and colleges, providing a valuable opportunity for job seekers to receive expert guidance on improving their job applications and interview techniques.

During the Career Clinic, participants benefitted from personalized feedback on their resumes and learned effective interviewing strategies. Industry professionals, including HR experts Anto Mathew, Dev Budheliya, Surya RC, Murti B, and Himanshi Jain, led insightful sessions that equipped attendees with practical resources. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to obtain professional headshots for their LinkedIn profiles, enhancing their online visibility.

The Student Summit featured notable keynote speakers, including Marianne Maranda (Academic and International Vice President, Seneca Polytechnic), Randall Arsenault (Commissioner, Ontario Human Rights), and Consul Arun Kumar (Indian Consulate). The panel included student federation leaders Sara Rodrigues (Seneca) and Hushbir Singh (Centennial College), as well as representatives from LEMFI, Goldmax Inc., Yoke Immigration, Priority Mentorship Inc., and Punjabi Community Health Services. Presenters Himanshi and Margu also contributed to the discussions.

A key takeaway from the summit was Randall Arsenault's assurance that reaching out to police regarding mental and physical issues would not affect students’ immigration status, encouraging them to seek help when needed. HR experts emphasized the importance of proper training for resume refinement and career readiness, ensuring participants were well-prepared for their job searches.

IYC President Jerin Raj expressed enthusiasm about the event's success, stating, "The feedback we've received from the Student Summit and Career Clinic inspires us to create more opportunities that bridge the gap between job seekers and employers. We are committed to organizing additional events that strengthen these connections and support our community."
