Delhi: Ratan Tata, the former chairman of prominent industrialist Tata Group, passed away. He died at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. He was the chairman of Tata Group from 1991 to 2012. Ratan Tata was a person honored by the country with Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. He was in critical condition in the hospital for the last 4 days.
The Tata Group had announced that the health condition was improving the other day, but later it deteriorated again. He was admitted to the hospital after his blood pressure dropped. Ratan Tata was living with the help of a ventilator for the last three days.
During the 21 years he led the Tata Group, revenue grew 40 times. Similarly, there was a 50-fold increase in profits. Under his tenure, the Tata Group acquired Tetley, Jaguar Land Rover and Corus. Ratan Tata resigned from his executive powers in the Tata Group on 28 December 2012, having reached the age of 75. It was he who made the Tata Nano car a reality for the common man. He started his career at Tata Steels in 1961 and led the Tata Group for 21 years.
