Coca-Cola withdraws popular zero-sugar drink

The Coca-Cola Company announced that it has voluntarily recalled 13,152 cases of Minute Maid Zero Sugar Lemonade after an internal investigation found that cans labeled as Coca-Cola Zero Sugar contained added sugar.


The recall began on September 10 in coordination with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Such recalls are included in the Class ll level because the use of products withdrawn from the market may cause temporary adverse health effects or cause serious problems in the future.

 The FDA reported that no illnesses or other complications have yet been reported from the use of retracted cans.

The 12-ounce cans of Minute Maid Zero Sugar Lemonade were recalled. These were shipped to retail locations in Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio.

Neither Coca-Cola nor the FDA has provided information on whether the recalled products have been removed from store shelves. Sometimes they may still be available for sale in the market. Sources related to this said that the labels should be checked before purchase. If the product purchased is withdrawn from the market, reject it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
