Southern BC region is currently experiencing neutral temperatures. But weather watchers have said that the La Nina phenomenon will soon arrive in the region and there may be changes in temperature by next month. Trevor Smith, a meteorologist at Environment Canada, said the winter season will be bitterly cold and the La Nina phenomenon is expected to last throughout the winter season.

Winter falls in December and January. Later, by the time of spring season, the cold will gradually decrease, he pointed out. A La Niña winter means snow at lower elevations, cold air outbreaks, and heavy snowfall at higher elevations.

La Nina will bring favorable weather to Vancouver's North Shore mountains. Smith added that this will be a stronger El Nino than last year.
