Canada commemorates those who sacrificed their lives for the country. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Governor General Mary Simon paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives at a Remembrance Day ceremony at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. Maureen Anderson, who was selected as this year's Silver Cross Mother, also participated in the ceremony. Both of their sons served in the military in Afghanistan and later died of post-traumatic stress disorder.

Tributes were paid to those who lost their lives while serving the interests of the country. The ceremonies at the graves and memorials were at 11 am. Many shed tears for their loved ones during the emotional ceremony. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took to social media to remember the men and women of the armed forces who have kept the country safe throughout history.

According to the Department of Veterans Affairs' 2021 Census, there are currently 7,300 veterans in Canada. Out of this, 6,142 are male and 1,158 are female. Royal Canadian Legion President Berkley Lawrence said the day is an opportunity to remember how we got our freedom.
