Two youths have been found guilty of human trafficking after an Indian family was found dead at the Canadian border. Harsh Kumar Ramanlal Patel and Steve Shand should face trial. They brought Indian citizens to Canada on student visas and smuggled them across the United States border. They used to conduct such human trafficking as part of a larger operation.
A family of four from India was found frozen to death on the border between Manitoba and Minnesota. It was almost three years after the incident that two men were ordered to stand trial on charges of human trafficking. Patel works with smugglers in Canada to drop off migrants near the border. From there, prosecutors allege, Shand accompanied them until they entered the United States.
