Family and friends are calling for further investigation and support in the shooting of 29-year-old Indian national Parbir in Brampton. Parbir was shot near his home on Inner Heights Drive near Kennedy and Mayfield roads on November 9. Peel police's initial investigation determined that Parbir was not the intended target and that the shooting was carried out by a group of people.
Parbir had recently purchased a truck. He had been in the area to call in employees for some related work. At the time, a black Honda Civic was parked nearby. Friends say that the accused in this opened fire on Parbir, who was near the truck.
He was shot in the shoulder, chest and ribs. Parbir, who was seriously injured, is being treated in the hospital. Two fingers on the hand that was shot had to be amputated. His spinal cord was also shot. With this, the doctors have ruled that Parbir will never be able to stand up and walk again in his life, friends told the media. They demand that a further investigation be conducted to find the accused who destroyed a person's life to such an extent. Only his wife is in Canada with Parbir. Parbir is waiting for the approval of permanent residency. Therefore, he will not be able to get coverage for the heavy medical expenses. All his friends have started a GoFundMe page for Parbir. They also stated that they have received $26,000 in donations so far. Police are investigating the suspects.
