California: ChatGPT search is now available to all users with accounts on OpenAI's mobile apps and website. OpenAI made the announcement at an event on Monday. Previously, this feature of ChatGPT was only available to paid subscribers. According to the new rollout, users logged into ChatGPT accounts will be able to access the feature regardless of their subscription status. In addition, customers will be able to set ChatGPT as the default search engine.
OpenAI first launched ChatGPT search in November 2024. The company had announced at the launch that it would continue to develop the search engine, move it to an advanced voice mode, and make it available to non-logged-in users. Keeping these promises, OpenAI has now made search available to all customers. OpenAI's move is being described as a direct fight with search engine giant Google.
OpenAI is redefining the search experience on the Internet by offering an AI-based alternative to traditional search engines. OpenAI has also now introduced live video and screen sharing settings to the advanced voice mode of its ChatGPT AI chatbot. Users will see a video icon at the bottom left of the ChatGPT chat window. You can click on it to start a video. For screen sharing, a simple tap on the three-dot menu will also bring up the "Share screen" option.
