Passengers were evacuated from Calgary International Airport on Friday morning after a lithium-ion battery pack caught fire. The fire broke out around 9:30 a.m. The Calgary Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. The fire department said the fire was caused by a battery pack in one of the devices in the bag exploding.
The area where the fire occurred has been cordoned off and passengers have been evacuated, officials said. No injuries were reported. There was minor damage to the floor of the lounge where the battery pack was located. The building's ventilation system was used to remove smoke from the maintenance staff area, officials said.
