Sriharikota: ISRO has tested a robot arm for the first time in space. ISRO has released a video of the robot arm developed by the ISRO Inertial Systems Unit in Thiruvananthapuram. The robot arm was sent into space as part of the PSLV C60 mission. This is the IISU's Relocatable Robotic Manipulator. In Malayalam, it means walking robot arm. The first Indian robot to operate in space.

This is the preliminary form of the robot arm that will be used when setting up its own space station in the future. It is designed in such a way that it can walk from one place to another and carry out necessary observation and maintenance. The fourth stage of the PSLV C60 rocket, which launched the SpaceX satellites, has been kept in space as a temporary satellite. The robot arm was tested there.

This project is known as the PSLV Orbital Experiment Module or POEM. This is the fourth time that the final stage of a PSLV has been kept in space in this way. POEM IV has many more exciting experiments. Among them is the Debris Capture Robotic Manipulator, another space robot developed by VSSC, Thiruvananthapuram, to remove debris from space. Its operational test will also be held soon.
