California: WhatsApp's event scheduling feature, which was previously only available in group chats and allows users to create events, will soon be available in private chats as well. WhatsApp is working to make it more convenient to schedule events in private chats. Previously, the feature was only available in group chats. It allows users to create events, set reminders, and coordinate appointments directly within the app.
With the feature coming to one-on-one conversations, users will have more flexibility to manage their schedules without having to switch to a dedicated calendar app. The latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS (25.2.10.73) has already enabled this new feature, which will allow users to add locations or links to audio and video calls when planning events.
WhatsApp's move comes at a time when Apple is testing its own event management tool. Known by the codename Invites, the app is designed to help users organize meetings and in-person get-togethers. While Apple's Calendar app already supports the event feature, the new app is expected to offer additional features such as a more interactive interface and deeper integration with iCloud. According to 9to5Mac, references to the app were first spotted in the iOS 18.2 beta. Although the code was temporarily removed, it reappeared in iOS 18.3 beta 2, indicating that Apple is still actively developing the idea.
