California: Google has revised its policy that it will not develop weapons using artificial intelligence (AI) or use AI for surveillance systems. CNN reported that Google's parent company Alphabet has removed the rules related to this from its AI ethics policy. The four-page list that explained what AI will not be used for was completely cut from Google's AI policy.
Google's parent company Alphabet has removed the rules that will not develop harmful technology, will not develop weapons or other technological systems that can be used to attack people, will not use AI for surveillance in violation of international law, and will not use AI technology in a way that leads to human rights violations from its AI policy. It is suspected that Google made this policy change to secure government defense contracts. Google's policy change is fueling concerns that AI will be weaponized.
