Delhi: US President Donald Trump has explained why he stopped funding to encourage voting in India. Trump asked why a country with a booming economy and high tax rates needed financial support. Trump sharply criticized the $21 million US aid to encourage voters in India to vote. Why are we giving $21 million to India? They have a lot of money. India is one of the highest taxing countries on us. Their tariffs are so high that it is difficult for us to enter there. I have a lot of respect for India and their Prime Minister. But why are they giving $21 million for voters' votes?

Trump came to the scene after the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by billionaire Elon Musk, announced that it was canceling several projects in India, including the Voter Participation Initiative. On February 16, the DoJ published the list, citing concerns about unnecessary spending.
