The new provisions issued by the Ministry of External Affairs regarding Indian passport applications are in effect. If you were born on or after October 1, 2023, only the birth certificate will now be considered as a document to prove the date of birth to be submitted while applying for a passport. The central government has amended the provisions of the Passport Act to clarify this.
Meanwhile, the amendment clarifies that if you were born before October 1, 2023, you can submit any of the 7 documents, including the birth certificate.
