Doctors warn of a surge in measles cases in Canada. As many students and families prepare to celebrate spring break in March, experts are warning of a surge in measles in Canada and around the world.
More measles cases have been reported in the first two months of this year than in 2024, said the country's Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Theresa Tam. As of March 6, 227 measles cases have been confirmed in Canada. Many of them have been hospitalized. The most cases have been reported in New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba. Theresa Tam said the increase in cases is worrying. It is mostly spread in places such as daycares, schools and health care facilities. Unvaccinated children are also among the infected.
